WHO
As we age, it is natural to experience gradual declines in muscle strength, power, and bone density. These changes can affect balance, mobility, confidence, and the ability to perform everyday activities independently. Alongside these changes we might be managing conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Total Knee and or Hip Replacements and more.
We know the benefit of resistance and falls prevention training and understand the need for a supportive, safe and effective environment.
WHAT
Perform for Life is ideal for people who would benefit from more supervision than a traditional gym environment but don’t require one-on-one rehabilitation. Small class sizes allow for individual coaching, appropriate exercise progressions, and a safe environment for those with reduced confidence, balance concerns, or an increased risk of falls.
—
As we age, maintaining physical independence requires training three distinct systems that work together to keep us safe, capable, and mobile:
- Strength builds the foundation. Muscle mass naturally declines by up to 5% per decade after age 30 (sarcopenia). Resistance training reverses this loss, protects joint health, and stimulates bone density to prevent osteoporosis. Research shows strength training can lower all-cause mortality risk by up to 45%.
- Power provides the emergency brakes. Power is force combined with speed—how quickly your muscles react. Power declines nearly twice as fast as strength. It’s what allows you to rapidly step forward and catch yourself when you trip, making it critical for real-world movement and fall prevention.
- Balance tunes the navigation system. Age slows down neural signaling between your brain, eyes, and joints. Targeted balance training sharpens spatial awareness and stability, cutting fall rates by up to 42%.
HOW
Our small group sessions are led by Accredited Exercise Physiologists and strictly capped at 6 participants per class. This ensures we can provide hands-on coaching, prioritizing safety, progressive overload, and optimal exercise dosage tailored to your goals.
To get started, you’ll complete an initial assessment with an Exercise Physiologist, who will recommend the ideal class structure for you. Classes are purchased via flexible class packs based on your clinical plan.
